A Civil Tongue

 

            Keeping a civil tongue?

            I wonder why, when

            Civilization consists

            Of impersonal rules

            That apply in the

            Aggregate but

            Are enforced on all --

            Without exception!

            And where is the

            Howling that last

            Night lulled me to sleep?

            I heard a solemn

            Sighing and saw

            A sublunary splendor

            Shining on Duffy

            In my lap and Ben

            At my feet.

            I’ve a sharp tongue

            To cut me out of

            Discrepant

            Generalizations
