Book burning called off -- Muslims protest anyway

Terry Jones called off the Quran burning; whether the visit by the FBI contributed to this decision, I don't know, but Obama got his way: no book burning, no violent reaction from Muslims, and no boon to al Qaeda recruiting efforts. . . . At least that was the plan.

But a bully doesn't quit his bullying just because you give in to him. He likes it. He keeps on, and that seems to be what is happening in various places in the world. The President, in essence, gave in and called off the book burning (with a little help from his Attorney General), but it was too late, apparently, for Muslims to call off the protests.

"Shouts of 'Death to America!' rang out as Afghan demonstrators Saturday denounced now-suspended plans by an American pastor to burn copies of the Muslim holy book, the Koran.

"More than 10,000 people took part in a protest in Logar province, south of the Afghan capital, Kabul."

"If Quran is burned, it would be beginning of destruction of America," read one English-language banner held up by the protesters, who chanted "Down with America!" That's quite a threat. Also, the inference we can draw is that a pastor of a church with 50 members has an enormous amount of power -- only negative power, however. Such a pastor can cause the destruction of America (if the Islamist words are backed by deeds), but is there anything that can be done to preserve America? Apparently not. We can only give in to the Islamism. We can either do it quietly by giving in to all their demands, or we can do it violently if some pastor someplace burns a few Qurans, or someone creates an insulting cartoon, or Nike comes out with some more shoes that have a design that looks like the name of Mohammad, or an Ice-cream cone has such a look to its cones, or someone else uses a wrong word, look or image.
